iDigInfo Director Austin Mast participated in the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-6) at the UN Environment Program campus in February 2024 to provide expertise on a nascent Charter for Citizen Science that would provide a formal framework for the UNEP to encourage and incorporate citizen science data for its Multilateral Environmental Agreements. This continues work that he began with collaborators at the UN Science, Policy, Business Forum’s Expert Panel “Towards a Big Data Revolution for the Planet” at the UN’s Vienna campus in 2023.
