Meeting for Advancing Participatory Sciences

Visiting Scholar Jennifer Shirk and iDigInfo Director Austin Mast hosted the inaugural Meeting for Advancing Participatory Sciences in Florida on April 12, 2024. The meeting involved 42 participants representing government agencies, universities, field stations, marine labs, digital tool providers, and facilitator organizations, such as libraries and the Girl Scouts. Sharon Tatem (Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission) and Caroline Nickerson (SciStarter and University of Florida) rounded out the planning partners. Jennifer and Austin took four FSU graduate students from their Public Participation in Science course to the event. The organizers thank the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art in Sarasota (administered by Florida State University) for providing an excellent venue and experience.
